Dear Parents/Guardians,
Parental Permission Form
We ask parents/guardians for their permission for their children to participate in certain activities. Please read the Parental Permission Form and tick the relevant boxes and return the forms in an envelope by Friday September 4th.
Parental Permission Forms/Emergency Contact Forms and Administration of Medicine Form will be sent home with your child today. (please return all forms by Friday September 4th).
School Website
Our new school website is almost up and running. We thank Jennifer for all her input into the new website and for liaising with the designers of the website. When the website becomes ‘live’ we will be able to upload events, pictures etc. on the website on a weekly basis. The website will give parents/guardians extra information regarding events happening in the school but will also help in advertising the school.
Library/Learning Hub
We were successful last year in our Meta Grant Application (for a library/learning hub). Over the next few weeks we will be transforming the present room into a modern library/learning hub. This is our third successful Meta Grant project – following on from the Interactive Multi-Sensory Room and the Interactive Boards and Chrome Books. These have been really beneficial to the children in the school and are also a great help in advertising the school. Thanks to Mrs Kennedy for co-ordinating this project.
Student Council
We are making a few small changes to the Student Council this year. Instead of having a different student council termly like previous years we will have a different student council monthly which means all children in 3rd-6th class will have an opportunity to be on the council during the year. The Student Council members for September are Tomás, Eilín, Elliott and Niall. There is no obligation for anyone to be on the council.
Swimming
The children in 3rd-6th class will have six swimming lesson sessions in Navan Swimming Pool starting on Wednesday September 16th. The cost of the lessons including bus is €63.00. We thank the Parents’ Association for donating €500 towards the cost of the buses.
Assembly
We had an assembly in the school hall on Friday to welcome our new Junior Infants who settled into their new surroundings really well. We thank the 6th class pupils for their positive messages for the Juniors and we thank all the children for creating the ‘Archway’ for the Juniors on leaving the hall!
Football
The boys and girls in 3rd-6th class who are interested in being on the Gaelic Football teams this year will have training during school in the next week or so. I sent a message out on Aladdin to parents/guardians on Friday about the possibility of people sponsoring jerseys for both our teams. Already one family have expressed interest for which we thank them. If you would like to sponsor the jerseys for the other team please contact the school.
Picnic Tables/Benches
We would like to thank Mary for organising during the summer holidays painting of the picnic tables and benches at the rear of the school. They look like new and will be enjoyed by the children for years to come.
Thanks Mary.
‘Re-Turn’ Bottles
We are continuing with the ‘Re-Turn’ of bottles/cans scheme again this year. If you have some bottles/cans at home you can put them in the orange bin in school. We will have a rota again this year (starting with 6th class) for the return of the bottles/cans.
Is Mise,
Seamus Tansley
